The two fundamental classifications into which the impacts ot colonialism on India can be arranged into are, sure and negative. The constructive outcomes of colonialism on India exceed the negatives, however there are negatives in any case, for example, prohibition from the legislature. England brought western profound quality and advancement, which it did not have, this Improved Indian culture. This profound quality and advancement established in nd at that point thrived Into significantly more after the British left. The Imperialism of India had various negative impacts a significant number of which ere evident today. To begin The Government of India was run not by Indians, however by British. The Indians held positions, however none Important enough to have any Influence. This influenced them in light of the fact that atter the British lett they took their administration and their benefits with them, and accordingly they never figured out how to oversee successfully and along these lines the individuals didnt partake in Government. (l) on that Britain industrialized India, however in the process annihilated numerous exchanges. This provided India with occupations, yet its urpose was to utilize India to gracefully Britain with crude materials. The negative impact of Industrialization of India Is that once the British left the interest for their crude materials fell, and in this manner decimated the Industry. (5) With no employments/exchanges for Indians to take up India fell Into joblessness and isolated poor people and the rich definitely, a partition that despite everything proceeds right up 'til the present time. Despite the fact that the government ot India had negative impacts the repercussions ot colonialism abandoned numerous constructive outcomes that when procured helped Indian culture prosper. To begin before the British came it very well may be said that the Indians were not ery good or edified, because of things, for example, child murder and widow consuming. Child murder is the point at which the female children are executed. Likewise the slave exchange came toa end. (3) Then when the British showed up In India the acts of Infanticide and widow consuming were immediately halted end in the end so was subjection. Another extraordinary commitment of Britain to India Is an Infrastructure which was no doubt worked by Indians however supervised by Brltlsh engineers(4) The Infrastructure gave an association between all the individuals and joined them, and foundation would likewise encourage exchange inside India and to the fringes to exchange with different nations. These commitments were acceptable yet without a doubt one of the most significant beneficial outcomes of government on India was instruction. A portion of the primary parts of instruction that helped shape India were the English language, technical studies, and innovation. (2)The generally Important of these three could ostensibly be the English language, in light of the fact that while different nations dre attempting to learn English numerous Indians definitely know the English language and are then ready to exchange and set up trade with most of the world since English Is quickly turning into a typical language for business. The ciences and innovation were additionally significant in light of the fact that cutting edge India is based around innovation and science. dominion of India it could be sensibly contended that India profited more in than Britain over the long haul. At long last after Britain left India it didn't take much with it that it didnt as of now have, it may have obtained some impacted and some financial addition however nothing deserving of recognition. Then again Imperialism set a reason for Indian culture, it gave India a foundation, present day ethics, however above all it gave India instruction. This training helped India prosper and turn into the propelling country that it is today. kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-76602394782384637282020-08-22T15:04:00.001-07:002020-08-22T15:04:09.641-07:00Essay Topics That Work Well With Your ArgumentEssay Topics That Work Well With Your ArgumentIf you're getting ready to write an essay for a college paper, it's important to know how to properly go about finding essay topics that work well with your argument. Many people do not write well in general; they're either over-confident or afraid to voice their opinion. It's very easy to lose your voice when you're writing a paper of any length, and when it's your very life, why would you want to give up your personality? However, to be successful, you need to develop your own voice, not someone else's.So, how do you go about finding essay topics that are useful to you and your argument? It can be done by doing your research. Start with your life and examine the experiences and events that may have had an impact on your life and the lives of others. If you're in an event that has a lot of controversy, you'll be surprised at how well a few interesting thoughts can go with your argument.Try to think of essay topics that relate to your lif e experiences. You can use your own experience to write an essay, but if you're writing to write a business proposal, then make sure you're speaking from a business standpoint. If you're writing to discuss your opinion on politics, then consider what is being said and get it out of your system before you start writing. Write in a private, time-limited writing block where you only use your computer to write. Do not check your work until you're ready to read it, and do not respond to a question you're unsure of until you've done the research required to help you answer the question.Once you have a topic that you think is interesting, do not worry about your grammar. Find a good grammar checker program and use it to clean up your work. Grammar is important to look for in a topic, but as long as you're doing your research, and as long as you're looking for grammatical errors, then you should be fine.Once you find essay topics that you like, begin researching for the argument you're goin g to present. You should always write in a single paragraph. Do not break the topic up in three or four paragraphs, because this will make it harder to write the argument for each paragraph. Divide your research into smaller chunks so that it will be easier to get the information you need for each paragraph. Be sure that the topic you're writing about will require you to research each paragraph and that the essay will look solid.Make sure that you give specific information about the subject you're writing about. You want to give more information than just saying something that you might have said in the past. It is much better to give factual information, rather than personal opinions. If you want to demonstrate how you feel, then explain that in your essay. One thing that will help your essay not only be shorter, but it will also be more interesting is to summarize the argument, rather than just giving it a direct answer. Find an answer for the main topic and write a short summary o f it. Then, come back to the main topic and just present your summary of the argument without talking directly to the reader. This way, your essay will be more of a whole and the reader will be able to pick up on your tone.If you want to keep the length of your essay to a minimum, keep your main ideas simple. If you need to spend a lot of time to write a strong argument, then just start with an idea that you think will get your point across. If it doesn't, you have nothing to lose by spending some extra time to brainstorm. kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-2911945289239697452020-08-21T12:46:00.001-07:002020-08-21T12:46:36.777-07:00French Possessives Adjectives Come in Many, Many FormsFrench Possessives Adjectives Come in Many, Many Forms Possessive modifiers are the words utilized instead of articles to demonstrate to whom or to what something has a place. French possessive descriptors are utilized in comparable manners to English possessive modifiers, however there are a few contrasts in structure. Utilizing French Possessive Adjectives French sentence structure touts a lot a bigger number of possessives than Englishâ because there are various structures for the individual and number as well as the sexual orientation and the main letter of that which is controlled. The entirety of the various structures are summed up in the table underneath and are clarified in detail later in this exercise. 1.à When portraying at least two things in French, a possessive descriptive word must be utilized before every one: à à son frã ¨re et sa sÃ¥urâ â â his sibling and sister à â â ma tante et mon oncleâ â â my auntie and uncle 2.à The possessive descriptive word is never utilized with body parts in French. You cannot state my hand or my hair. Rather, the French utilize pronominal action words to show ownership with body parts: à à à Je me suis cassã © la jambe.à à à I broke my leg (actually, I broke the leg of myself). à à à Il se lave les cheveux.à à à Hes washing his hair (actually, Hes washing the hair of himself). Particular Plural English Manly Ladylike Prior to Vowel my mon mama mon mes your (tu structure) ton ta ton tes his, her, its child sa child ses our notre notre notre nos your (vous structure) votre votre votre vos their leur leur leur leurs Particular Possessive French Adjectives In French syntax, there are three types of the possessive for every particular individual (I, you, he/she/it). The sexual orientation, number, and first letter of the thing had figure out which structure to utilize. MY à à monâ (masculine singular)â mon stylo à my penâ â â maâ (feminine singular)â ma montreâ â my watchâ â â mesâ (plural)â mesâ livresâ my books When aâ feminine nounâ begins with a vowel, the manly possessive descriptive word is utilized, to maintain a strategic distance from sayingâ maâ amie,â which would break theâ flow of discourse. For this situation, the possessives last consonant is articulated (the n in the model beneath) to accomplish liquid elocution. à à monâ amieâ -my (female) companion YOUR (tuâ form) à â â tonâ (masculine singular)â â ton styloâ â your penâ â â taâ (feminine singular)â â ta montreâ your watchâ â â tesâ (plural)â â tes livresâ your books At the point when a ladylike thing starts with a vowel, the masculineâ possessive adjectiveâ is utilized: à à tonâ amieâ -your (female) companion HIS/HER/ITS à â â sonâ (masculine singular)â â son styloâ â his, her, its penâ â â saâ (feminine singular)â â saâ montreâ his, her, its watchâ â â sesâ (plural)â â sesâ livresâ his, her, its books At the point when a ladylike thing starts with a vowel, the manly possessive descriptor is utilized: à â â sonâ amieâ -his, her,â itsâ (female) companion Note:à An significant contrast among French and English is thatà French uses the sexual orientation of the thing to figure out which structure to utilize, not the sex of the subject. A man would sayâ mon livreâ when discussing a book, and a lady would likewise sayâ mon livre.à The book is manly, and accordingly so is the possessive descriptive word, regardless of who the book has a place with. Moreover, the two people would sayâ maâ maison, on the grounds that house is ladylike in French. It doesnt matter whether the proprietor of the house is male or female. This contrast among English and French possessive modifiers can be especially befuddling when utilizing him/her/it.à Son,à sa, andâ sesâ can each mean his, her, orâ itsâ depending on the specific situation. For example,â son litâ can mean his bed, her bed, or its bed (for instance, the pooches). On the off chance that you have to pressure the sexual orientation of the individual the thing has a place with, you can useâ â luiâ (belonging to him) orâ â elleâ (belonging to her): à à à Cest child livre, à elle.à Its her book.à à à Voici sa monnaie, lui.à à Heres his change. Plural Possessive French Adjectives For plural subjects (we, you, and they), French possessive descriptors are far less difficult. There are just two formsâ forâ each linguistic individual: solitary and plural. OUR à â â notreâ (singular)â â notre styloâ â our penâ â â nosâ (plural)â â nos montresâ our watches YOUR (vousâ form) à â votreâ (singular)â â votre styloâ â your penâ â vosâ (plural)â â vos montresâ your watches THEIR à â â leurâ (singular)â â leur styloâ â their penâ â â leursâ (plural)â â leurs montresâ their watches kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-19077891228276752652020-05-26T21:45:00.001-07:002020-05-26T21:45:03.005-07:00Essay Samples on Enterprise Social NetworksEssay Samples on Enterprise Social NetworksThe purpose of this article is to discuss an essay samples on enterprise social networks (ESSN). Do you agree? An inner journey involves the exploration of the self, as individuals review their growth and development in light of experiences which challenges and inspires them. More than anything else, inner journeys are about the challenge of self-reflection. The following texts ââ¬ËWe All Fall Downââ¬â¢ by Robert Cormier, ââ¬ËBaghdad Weddingââ¬â¢ by Hassan Abdulrazzak and ââ¬ËThings have changedââ¬â¢ by Bob Dylan emphasise how one reflects on the ways an inner journey provides new insight and an understanding of the world and themselves. Following him in his exploits, into that house and the terrible things they did.â⬠Buddy reflects on his participation in the trashing. Although he didnââ¬â¢t take part in the assault on Karen, it plays on his mind. The reader discovers that out of all the trashers Buddy is the only one with a conscience. He feels guilty for not helping Karen this seems overwhelming, particularly in light of Harryââ¬â¢s manipulative comment which makes the fall an accident ââ¬Å"Maybe I was trying to grab her and save her from falling.â⬠Buddy then through the events of the trashing isolates himself from friends and family. As the novel continues, Addy and Buddy begin to talk. Addy is concerned for Buddyââ¬â¢s growing dependence upon alcohol. ââ¬Å"Is that what you think it does? Make you more human? Let me tell you something, Buddy. It does just the opposite. Makes you a monster. A silly looking monster.â⬠Addy makes a remark on the theme of the novel she declares that ââ¬Å"The sins of omission are the sins od doing nothing.â⬠This quote is significant to the novel because Buddy has the responsibility to solve his problem of addiction on alcohol, self control and being independent. According to preliminary data in 2015, there is an average of 8.3 deaths by suicide every single day. Suicide is approximately three times higher for males than it is for females. In 2015, 2.8 percent of all female deaths were attributed to suicide while on 0.9 percent of all female deaths are accredited to suicide (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2016). In Australia, the Aboriginal cultural group is at risk of depression compared to the general population in Australia. The history of the aboriginal people is marred with grief, trauma as well as the loss which are perfect ingredients for depression. There are widespread grief and trauma among the aboriginal people which be traced back in history to the time when most of them were killed and their land was taken away from them (Clancy, 2014). Secondly, they also face a lot of discrimination based on their culture in Australia and this takes at all on them psychologically since they are made to feel inferior and insignificant compared to other populations in Australia. This lowers their self-esteem and consequently leads to depression (Flood, 2006). Thirdly, they suffer from physical health problems. This is attributed to poverty which makes it virtually impossible for them to access healthcare since they cannot afford to pay for it. Fourthly substance abuse is also a crucial risk factor. Many aboriginal people start misusing drugs management at a very young age due to desperateness and hopelessness. Fifthly, violence is a very big problem among Aboriginal people especially women. According to statistics, one in every five Aboriginal women experienced physical violence in the last one year. This is in comparison to just seven percent of the non-indigenous women. This kind of atmosphere of violence is likely to drive people into depression. Sixthly, Aboriginal people record the highest number of incarcerations in Australia. Going by statistics, the national imprisonment rate for Aboriginal adults is recorded to be fifteen times higher than that of non-indigenous adults. In December 2013, Aboriginal people consisted of twenty-eight percent of Australias full-time adult prison population. This is a huge number taking into consideration that the community is not very large (Liberman, 2017). When family members such as the parent or the mother are incarcerated, then the children are left under the care of their extended family and this burden can lead to depression for both the children and the family especially considering the financial hiccups they also face. Finally, depression can result from the impact of stolen generations and removal of children. Roughly one in every twelve Aboriginal adults is part of the stolen generation. 26,900 people confirmed that they were taken from their natural family. Ma ny report high levels of psychological distress when told assess their health. The psychological distress is a risk factor for depression especially when no intervention is taken (Aitken Adkins Productions, 2015). Are far as suicides are concerned, young people who are between the ages of fifteen to twenty-four are at risk. According to data from Australia, the suicide rate for young are at its highest compared to numbers from the past ten years. Furthermore, one in every three deaths of young people is credited to suicide. What is shocking is the fact that forty-one thousand young people have made a suicide attempt at one point or the other. This clearly shows there is a problem. There are several risk factors that make young people vulnerable to suicide. First, living in remote areas is tough for young people or simply geographical isolation (Donald, 2016). According to Australian Bureau of statistics, the suicide rate for people living in rural areas has increased drastically. This number of suicide rates is three time that of the young people living in cities in Australia. Young people living in rural areas feel disconnected from what they consider as the real world. They feel hopeless and this psychological distress compels them to commit suicide (Birleson, 2014). Second risk factor for young people is sexual orientation. Same sex young people in Australia as six times likely to commit suicide in Australia compared to the general population. There is a big number of young people who identify themselves as homosexual or lesbians (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2013). Most of the times they feel judged based on their sexual orientation and this drives them to commit suicide. Third, cyber bullying and use of technology increase their risk significantly. Many young people in Australia spend a large portion of their time online texting and chatting on several social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook among others. This makes them more susceptible to cyber-bullying who derive their confidence by making others feel bad about themselves. Once rumors start spreading, its very difficult to stop or control hence the person ends up avoiding other people bec ause of share and this loneliness drives one to commit suicide (Wagner, 2016). Furthermore, young people use the internet to obtain information on how to attempt suicide. Four, young people are thought to be at risk because of their tendency to abuse drugs and alcohol. Alcohol is the most used drug in Australia. Abuse of alcohol has been recognized as a great contributor to suicidality for many years. Among those people who die as a result of suicide, alcohol disorders tend to be the second most diagnosed disorder among them. Young people under the influence of alcohol or drugs end up making poor judgments and also engaging in risky behaviors such as unprotected sex while some are raped. Once they sober up, they feel shame because of their actions and some who cannot handle the shame end up committing suicide (Birleson, 2014). There are two factors that may have contributed to the development of the clients mental health concerns and risk. One of them is the family history of mental disorder. In the case study, Elizabeth explains that her mother also experienced anxiety and depression during her first pregnancy too. Her mother had to be given anti-depressants medication after exhibiting suicidal behaviors. Once a mother experiences depression and suicidal tendencies during pregnancy, there is a higher chance of passing the same condition to the unborn child. This is attributed to the changes in the childs brain which are popularly known as amygdala whose role is primarily to control emotion and stress (Sperry, 2016). As such, researchers are advocating for intervention measures to be carried out before a child is born rather than after he or she is born (Smith Jury, 2017). The passing of the condition from mother to child can be clearly seen in this case study. Elizabeth is showing all the signs of depres sion and suicidal tendencies since she feels hopeless, buys painkillers with the intention of killing herself by overdosing, wishing to die and low self-esteem. Furthermore, children learn by the process of modeling and Elizabeths mother modeled her to accept depression and suicide as an option for coping with stress in life and that is why in her adult life she contemplates suicide as the only option (Nydegger, 2014). The second factor that has contributed to the development of the clients mental health concerns and risk is the environment of isolation. Elizabeth is on maternity leave which she went early because of high blood pressure so she spends most of the day and some nights alone since her husband by the name Craig has secured a track driving job that keeps him away from his family. Furthermore, the fact that the rental company also wants to terminate their contract compounds to the stress that she is experiencing and the stress is overwhelming to her. Isolation allows a person to overthink and concentrate on the failures which eventually leads to suicidal thoughts. When one is within a social circle of friend, one is distracted hence leaving very little space for suicidal thoughts since friends joke about and create humor which important for relieving stresses (Maville Huerta, 2013). Beneficence constitutes doing good to the patient as a nurse. Elizabeth is showing very clear signs of depression Management and suicide and the best thing to do for her is to admit her in the hospital before the situation gets worse before the situation gets worse which in this case is suicide. Non-maleficence is the ethical principle that states that a nurse should not do harm to patients. As a nurse, it would not be appropriate to leave a child the care of Elizabeth since she is in a bad state psychologically. She may end up committing suicide and leaving the baby alone and hungry considering Craig is always at work. As a nurse, its important to strike a balance between these two ethical principles since any acting taken will either be lean towards Zoe, Craig or Elizabeth but as long as the benefit outweighs the potential harm them it is perfectly alright. The mental health act of 2007 grants a mental health professional the right to forcibly medicate a patient if he or she does n ot comply with the regime in the community. The act also redefines professional roles giving a nurse power to act in the best interest of the patient. This will ensure that Elizabeth gets the treatment she deserves for the sake of herself and her family (Urden, Stacy Lough, 2016). Elizabeths wish to die is a high priority health risk. She considers herself a failure and in the last 48 hours, she has exhibited suicidal behavior by actually going to the chemist and buying pain killers with the sole intention of overdosing. One of the interventions that ought to be taken as far as Elizabeth is concerned is to provide medical treatment to her. This is because her condition has progressed and she has a lot going on and based on her symptoms, her mental state is very bad. Hospitalization may prove necessary for Elizabeth with constant inpatient care. The second intervention involves assuring, listening and talking to Elizabeth. Elizabeth was used to partying and she does not know how to handle isolation. Furthermore, she does not want to feel like the baby is attached to her. All these are things that need counseling and a listening ear (Meadows, Singh Grigg, 2013). This intervention will be beneficial especially when combined with medication to ensure that there is fast progress. Hopelessness is one of the reasons why Elizabeth is contemplating suicide hence making this intervention the best since it is based on the assumption that suicide is instigated primarily by hopelessness. By undergoing counseling, Elizabeth will be guided on how to focus on the negative elements of her life hence changing her perspective of life (Engdahl, 2014). As far as mental health problems are concerned, Elizabeth is suffering from anxiety. During her pregnancy she experienced anxiety. She also fears that just like her mother, she will be depressed and start depicting suicidal behavior since this is her first pregnancy and this stresses her a lot. A nurse can intervene in this situation by simply educating the patient (Slade, M., Oades Jarden, 2017). The nurse can help by presenting her with the literature on depression, suicidal behavior and how to manage them. Giving more information on the factors that are stressing her will help in reducing the anxiety levels which in turn will improve her health physically, mentally and spiritually. Secondly, the nurse should encourage Elizabeth to exercise regularly. Exercise has been proven to improve mood, reduce anxiety and depression. When vigorous exercise sessions are carried out, they can help alleviate symptoms for a very long time. When these interventions are successfully implemented, E lizabeth will feel more revitalized and her anxiety will slowly diminish. References Aitken, J., Adkins Productions. Therefore, the general public needs a watchdog that will help to expose what governments as well as other corporations are doing. In this regard, investigative reporting is very crucial in closing the gap of information that exists. It is important to note that developing countries are the most affected with the lack of truth in information. Consequently, Egypt as a country will receive very many advantages from investigative reporting . Investigative journalism is a branch of journalism in which a reporter carries out in depth analysis of a topic of his or her interest. Usually, investigative reporting reports about topics that are of public interest for example, corruption, crime, corporate wrong doing and various government scandals. Investigative reporting involves analysis of social and legal issues of the topic. Moreover, it entails investigation of important documents and scrutiny of government and business practices in order to understand their effects to society. Egypt being a country that is struggling to embrace democracy, it needs investigative journalism to help in many aspects. To begin with, investigative reporting will help in shedding light on some societal issues like government practices which have for a long time been kept in the dark. On the same note, investigative reporting will help to bring on board the feelings of people about the government. This will help the new government of Egypt to know which areas need immediate intervention.Advertising Looking for essay on communications media? Let's see if we can help you! Consequently, investigative reporting will help in exposing the wicked leaders who are milking public coffers. In addition, there has been evidence that the political elite have enormous powers which make them able to manipulate not only government policies, but also various leaders. As a result, investigative reporting comes in handy to help in exposing these people. Moreover, given the state of affairs in Egypt, it may be hard for the media to report the truth of what happens in the government and other corporations. However, since investigative reporting is based on solid evidence, it will enable the public to get a clear picture of what is really happening in various sect ors of the Egyptian government. Corruption, mismanagement of public resources and scandals are rampant in Egypt. Unfortunately, the investigative departments of the government cannot be trusted to do a good job in carrying out investigations. Consequently, investigative reporting is crucial in unraveling the depths of these scandals. On the same note, the Egyptian government has been through tough times including the change of government which brought to the light the evil activities that had been going on in the various departments. As a result the public needs a trustworthy watchdog to put the current government to task. Investigative reporting offers this solution. Human rights are violated every now and again in Egypt. The past government was able to symphony public money comfortably without the fear of being caught or reported. The government has also manipulated all investigative and reporting agencies. On the other hand, investigative reporting is open and transparent. Moreov er, it is easier for investigative reporters to get information compared to other agencies. Therefore, Egypt needs investigative reporting to bring on board the social evils being perpetrated.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Investigative Reporting on Egyptian Society specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This essay on Investigative Reporting on Egyptian Society was written and submitted by user Texas Twister to help you with your own studies. And still more readily did the rivalry of Greek-speaking Christianity and the newer Latin-speaking version developâ⬠says Wells (1922, p.45). His rule was the time when State had the utmost supremacy and after his death, State power receded to the background and papacy became more important during years of Latin Christendom. It was a Latin speaking world and the States resented the enormous power wielded by the Church. By then, the Romans have become Christians and they could not abide with the papal power. Christianity started with the high principles of brotherhood and tolerance, but with the high individuality cherished by Romans, Church found it necessary to have effective control. ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ Christianity did cherish the principle of toleration and abandoned it only reluctantly as the need of maintaining social, and even political cohesion among Romans made centralization and authority unavoidable,â⬠Pickman (1937, p.17\). On the other hand Byzantine Empire was the Greek speaking Roman Empire and under emperors like Constantine, it was a raw political power. Even though the emperors were totally in control, this did not rule out acute rivalry and existence of contenders to power. Rebelling against the state or defying it would have brought severe punishment. People were well protected, but had very few individual liberties. Rulers like Justinian were more focussed on empire expansion and control. Emperors did not look at the religious authority for succession, approval and guidance in ruling. No doubt the Christian power was ascending, but it did not control the political power. Byzantine rulers never accepted the superiority of the Church. The Emperor remained supreme and every other authority was defied. Byzantine were more autocratic than the States that kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-53505792201290416962020-01-30T07:24:00.001-08:002020-01-30T07:24:03.769-08:00Education - high school Essay Example for Free Education high school Essay High school, as well as college, is just another part in everyoneââ¬â¢s lives. Almost everyone goes through such a transition between two very diverse and different worlds. These diverse worlds can be compared and contrasted; however, not all are aware of the possible similarities and differences between them. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the students in high school and students college in terms of the level of the academics, time schedule, as well as the culture practiced by each student. First of all, high school is the first step to a higher level of learning. High school equips us with the proper knowledge needed in order to survive college and other higher levels of learning. Also, there are many subjects in high school such as: math, science, English, art, piano classes and many other subjects. The students are more relaxed and they will learn more carefully. Compared to the time schedule of college students, high school studentsââ¬â¢ schedules are much more fixed because the standard call time is at 7:30 a. m. and end at 3:00p. m. Students are much more immature and they need guidance in order to lead themselves to better lives. They study inside a single classroom all day, thus having little freedom; on the other hand, the students in the college have different single rooms for each subject. College, on the other hand, is a different story. The subjects a student will learn and discuss are much more specific since students finally chose the best major and a career path students will take in the future. College students are more experience and their workload is much more complex and heavy. They have more responsibilities to carry out in college. The curriculum is much more specific and complicated because detailed topics are being discussed regarding your chosen career path. College studentââ¬â¢s time schedules are very flexible because the students can choose their own desired time schedule. These students are much more outgoing and independent compared to high school students. The culture of college students is much more diverse because there is a huge number of students inside a college; many student come from all over the world. College introduce students to each others culture and nationality. People can really see the distinctive difference between these two phases in life; however, there are also some similarities students will experience during their transition into college live. Friends from your high school will usually be there for you especially when you keep a constant connection between them. Studying habits such as cramming for a test or homework, breaking the rules and disciplinary sanctions are still evident in both high school and college to help each otherââ¬â¢s. To sum up, we all know that almost all students goes through high school and college. We can compare that college is much more challenging and complex than high school. This is a higher level of learning, thus, requiring more time, effort as well as devotion to studies. Even though college is very tiring at time, I still believe that college is a much more enjoyable and exciting. To have that kind of freedom in your schedule is very rewarding; however, proper judgment is a must since we are all mature students now. kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-78522580397841455362020-01-22T03:48:00.001-08:002020-01-22T03:48:03.288-08:00MMX Technology :: essays research papers fc MMX TM Technology The MMX TM Technology extension to the Intel Architecture is designed to accelerate multimedia and communications software running on Intel Architecture processors (Peleg and Weiser). The technology introduces new data types and instructions that implement a SIMD architecture model and is defined in a way that maintains full compatibility with all existing Intel Architecture processors, operating systems, and applications. MMX technology on average delivers 1.5 to 2 times performance gains for multimedia and communications applications in comparison to running on the same processor but without using MMX technology. This extension is the most significant addition to the Intel Architecture since the Intel I386 and will be implemented on proliferation of the Pentium processor family and also appear on future Intel Architecture processors. The media extensions for the Intel Architecture (IA) were designed to enhance performance of advanced media and communication applications. The MMXâ⠢ technology provides a new level of performance to computer platforms by adding new instructions and defining new 64-bit data types, while preserving compatibility with software and operating systems developed for the Intel Architecture. The MMX technology introduces new general-purpose instructions. These instructions operate in parallel on multiple data elements packed into 64-bit quantities. They perform arithmetic and logical operations on the different data types. These instructions accelerate the performance of applications with compute-intensive algorithms that perform localized, recurring operations on small native data. This includes applications such as motion video, combined graphics with video, image processing, audio synthesis, speech synthesis and compression, telephony, video conferencing, 2D graphics, and 3D graphics The MMX instruction set has a simple and flexible software model with no new mode or operating-system visible state. The MMX instruction set is fully compatible with all Intel Architecture microprocessors. All existing software continues to run correctly, without modification, on microprocessors that incorporate the MMX technology, as well as in the presence of existing and new applications that incorporate this technology. MMX technology provides the following new features, while maintaining backward compatibility with all existing Intel Architecture microprocessors, IA applications, and operating systems; New data types, eight MMX registers, enhanced instruction set. The performance of applications which use these new features of MMX technology can be exchanged. The principal data type of the IA MMX technology is the packed fixed-point integer. The decimal point of the fixed-point values is implicit and is left for the user to control for maximum flexibility. kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-59199773683700157702020-01-14T00:12:00.001-08:002020-01-14T00:12:03.893-08:00Biopsychosocial Analysis of Maria Andrade EssayMaria Andrade is 79 years old. I recall Maria stating that although she is looking forward to retirement and loves her husband very much, one reason she is not looking forward to retirement is due to the fact that she will now have to spend the majority of her time with her husband. She feels that one of the reasons they have had a long successful marriage is due in part to the fact that she and her husband have not had to spend all their time together and have been able to have separate lives away from each other due to both of them having full time employment with different schedules. The reason I mention the marriage is because she has been working for 49 plus years and therefore, she will now have to adjust to a new life that does not include work. Maria also stated that when she retires she will be able to spend more time with her grandchildren and close friends and family. She will continue to be active by gardening, walking, swimming and any other activity that her mind, body and soul as sheà puts it, allow her to. Maria understands the importance of maintaining an active life style ââ¬Å"The new model for successful aging includes physical and mental well-being and contains three elements: avoiding disease and disability, sustaining high cognitive and physical function, and engaging with life (NIMH, 2002; Row & Kahn, 1997). The reason Maria is able to remain active now is because she began taking care of herself as a teenager after both of her parents passed from severe cases of diabetes. She made a conscious decision to always eat healthy and remain physically active. She kept this way of thinking even after arriving in a foreign country. Although diabetes runs in her family, she has been able to remain free of diabetes and other major health issues that seem to plague older people. She feels that majoring in Sociology helped her to understand the importance of how living a healthy life style from an early age will help in the aging process, ââ¬Å"In early childhood, the life cycleââ¬â¢s second phase, learning physical autonomy and control of oneââ¬â¢s bodily functions, versus shame and doubt in not learning them, paves the way for coping with deterioration of the body in old ageâ⬠(Hillier, Barrow, 9e, p76). At 79 years old, since I have known Maria, she has not had been on any type of medical leave. She believes that her parentsââ¬â¢ death served as a wake-up call for her. She feels that if it were not for both of them dying, she may not have lived to 79 years old because she would have eventually developed diabetes. Her mental well being was affected so much so that at one point while still in Cuba, she was starving herself in order to avoid eating the ââ¬Å"wrong foodsâ⬠. She eventually learned what types of food were healthy and unhealthy. Maria feels that her perceptions, intelligence, learning, memory and personality have been affected but only because she feels that it is part of the natural aging affected process, ââ¬Å"Normal aging includes stable intellectual functioning, capacity for change, and productive engagement with lifeâ⬠(Hillier, Barrow, 9e, p122). She admits to once in a while not remembering where she left items. Although her perceptions and memory have been slightly affected, she has been able to maintain a work load of 400 plus cases. As mentioned before, once she retires, she will be spending a lot of time with family and friends. Maria and her siblings became even closer after her parents passed away. Together they experienced the deaths of both parents and they travelled together from Cuba and have not separated since. Therefore, she understands the importance of having family and friends in your life, ââ¬Å"Given their shared experiences, siblings can be a major resource for life review among older adultsâ⬠, (Hillier, Barrow, 9e, p153). She keeps close relationships with her brother and sister as she is the eldest and has always been protective of them. Maria and her husband will assume the roles of babysitters for their grandchildren. They volunteered to take care of their grandchildren as part of their plan to continue with their active lifestyle. Maria understands how important she and her siblings were to her own grandparents as they were raised by her motherââ¬â¢s parents. Maria will continue to be physically active by walking, gardening and swimming and will continue with her friendships. Currently she meets with her friends once a week due to her full time work schedule; however, once she is retired, she is planning on meeting with her friends every other day. She knows how important friendships are; therefore, she understands that by maintaining her friendships so close to her, she will be able to turn to them for support as she feels that she may need it once she retires, ââ¬Å"Friendship is extremely important in the lives of elderly peopleâ⬠(Hillier, Barrow, 9e p162). As for her husband, she believes that he is a blessing because she understands that not everyone is lucky enough to live a long married life, let alone getting to an older age while still having your spouse by your side. Maria feels that he has been an integral part of her overall well being. He supports her with everything she does. They both maintain well eating habits and daily exercise although she states that he protests at times, ââ¬Å"Marriage maintains health: married people tend to have higher levels of well-being and better health than unmarried peopleâ⬠(Hillier, Barrow, 9e p174). kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-8944703341540832772020-01-05T20:34:00.001-08:002020-01-05T20:34:02.788-08:00The Relationship between Mind and Body - 1005 Words The relationship between mind and body seems like an important key to understand more about whether a person has a mental state or not. Many philosophers have developed many branches of philosophy to study the nature of mind and its relationship to body. From the conversation, the doctorsââ¬â¢ positions actually represent one of the branches when they are discussing the mental states of the patient. Each branch has their own defenses. In the following paragraphs, I will argue that it is more reasonable to think that the penitent has mental since the second doctorââ¬â¢s argument is more justified. To begin with, there are two major branches regard to the mind and body problem, dualism and monism. The first one claim that mind and body are two distinct substances, but the latter argue differently. There are many sub-branches of the two major ones. Such as Cartesian interactionism, epiphenomenalism, and parallelism are attributes to the dualism, and idealism and materialism are for the monism. However, there are certain positions that does not easily fall into those categories. For instance, functionalism and identity theory. Functionalism defines mental states by what they do rather than what they made of. And identity theory claim that each type of mental states, such as pain, is identical with a certain type of physical states of brain, such as c-fiber firing. The conversation is between the four doctors discussing about whether one of their patient has a mental states or not. The problem of the relationship of the mind to body arose from the works of Renà © Descartes, a French philosopher and mathematician of the 17th-century who gave dualism its classical formulation or made it to be what it is today. However, this privilege has unequally been stripped from people of color throughout history. People of color currently experience education at a disadvantage because they are taught with the understanding that they should naturally recognize the culture, when they do not. There are many steps educators can take to help students of color gain the education they deserve, but they are stuck in their self-proclaimed, righteous methods and believe change is unnecessary. The people in the culture of power are generally white, middle-class people and they experience irrepressible privilege within the education system. The power Delpit refers to is unintentionally sanctioned in classrooms today; however, people have not attempted to change this unequal power structure. Delpit discusses that there is ââ¬Å"the power of the teacher over the students; the power of the publishers of textbooks and of the developers of the curriculum to determine the view of the world presentedâ⬠(Delpit 283). Students of color recognize throughout time; the privileged white people are consistently in control of the way everyone else is educated. It is already engraved in their minds that white people have control over the culture of power; therefore, it is extremely hard to change the current structure. When students of color recognize this strong hierarchy of white people and underrepresentation of colored people in power, they turn away from wanting to receive an education. Answer: Below is the calculation for the yield of ATP from 4 moles of glucose in the liver. The calculation is based on the yield of ATP from the oxidation of a unitary mole of glucose. The calculation involved is based on the synthesis of a variable amount of ATP. As we know, the synthesis of ATP in the liver gives the maximum yield and this has been done under optimal conditions (Flurkey, 2010). At first the glucose in transformed into G6Pase consuming 1 molecule ATP. Parallel, Fructose ^ phosphate is transformed into 1, 6-biphosphate consuming another molecule of ATP. BPG obtained from transformation of glyceraldehydes 3 phosphate BPG - 3- phosphoglycerate = 2 Molecules of ATP Phosphoenolpyruvaye transformed to pyruvate - 2 Molecules of ATP The pryruvate is transformed into reaction of acetyl CoA with carbon dioxide producing NADH. Succinyl CoA is transformed into succinate - 2 Molecules of ATP The NADH produced in the pathway yields the following 2/3 Molecules per NADH - 4/6 for 2 cytoplasmic NADH Pyruvate Oxidation - 3 molecules per NADH = 6 ATP molecules 2 molecules ATP per FADH x 2 FADH = 4 Molecules of ATP 3 molecules of ATP per NADH ( Krebs cycle) x 3 NADH = 18 molecules of ATP. Total yield per mol of glucose = 38 Yield for 4 mol of input = 38 x 4 = 152 Glucose is metabolized in the human body and the primary form of storage in the body is glycogen which is found in the liver and the skeletal muscles of the body. There is a difference between the amounts of ATP production with the variation of site of metabolism (Hackmann and Firkins, 2015). The ATP synthesis will not take place in the muscle tissue. The liver is responsible for the maintenance of the optimum level of glucose in the blood stream. At the last step of the gluconeogenesis, the G6Pase catalyses the synthesis and governs the release of the glucose in the bloodstream (Ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, 2016). However, muscle tissue do not participate in glucose export hence they lack the G6Pase enzyme. The oxidation process of the fuel molecules in the body namely amino acids, fatty acids and carbohydrates are completed through the process of the citric acid cycle. Acetyl Coenzyme A is the basic form of input of the fuel molecules in the cycle. This is the final pathway of oxidation and after transamination every amino acid enters this cycle. While entering the process are completely oxidized in the process (Qu, Lee and Boos, 2004). The carbohydrates input in this stage are in the form of pyruvate and acetyl coA. If there is any surplus of carbohydrates in the food intake of the body, these are transformed to neutral fat at this stage. The neutral fat thus produced does not take part in any metabolism activity but are stored in the adipose tissue. Many of these amino acids are converted so that they can take part in the gluconeogenesis through OAA. In addition to this, in this cycle, the fat is completely disintegrated and the net synthesis of carbohydrates from the fat is zero in this cycle. Most of the pathways are either catabolic or anabolic in nature (Taylor and Robinson, 2005). However, this is the only true pathway that is completely amphibolic in nature. The anaplerotic role of the cycle ensures that the concentration of 4 carbon units is maintained in the cells. The molecule of GTP is not an equivalent molecule of ATP but the when the GTP is gathered in a triphospate group, the amount of energy built up is equivalent to the triphosphate group of ATP. Additionally, GTP has the ability of a phosphoral group into ADP to form an ATP. Hence, the GTP is considered equivalent to ATP. ATP formation in the liver is through glycolysis which is a non aerobic process. This process breaks down the glucose into 3C compounds, pyruvate and lactate thereby forming ATP. Further in the process, the pyruvate dehydrogenase transforms the 3C compounds into 2C compound with the extraction and release of carbon di oxide (Zou, Ma and Wang, 2015). This is through the pathway of the citric acid cycle. The overall equation is represented as follows The preliminary step in the formation of ATP is the transformation of glucose in the blood into the cells. AT this step 4 ATPs and 2NADH are produced. AT the next step, the pyruvate is oxidized in the mitochondria producing 2 ATPs and 8NADH as well as 2FADH2 . Hence the total number of molecules generated in the process is as follows 8 NADH 2 FADH2 2 ATP 6 Carbon dioxide molecules. This way, 12 ATP is produced from one molecule input in the citric acid cycle. References Bioinfo.org.cn. (2016). [online] Available at: https://www.bioinfo.org.cn/ [Accessed 17 Jul. 2016]. For the next eighteen months, the only time I would see my father would be in an olive green jumpsuit with his prisoner number plastered over his left chest. Things changed throughout that year and a half. My mother would no longer wait for my brother and I at the bus stop after school, she needed to become the ââ¬Å"man of the houseâ⬠and that meant getting a job. There were no more walking through the door after school and being welcomed with snacks and a simple, ââ¬Å"How was school today, son?â⬠We moved from our cozy, accustomed home with its large backyard and ordinary setting to a tiny two-bedroom apartment in a large apartment complex. We will write a custom essay sample on Life is Tough or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Fortunately, I was still allowed a bit of familiarity with the chance to graduate with my friends from my same elementary school. Looking back upon those years now and the amount of sacrifice and work my mom had to accomplish without her husband there, makes me want to be the person who she is, someone who will step up and do what is needed when the situation demands it. My mother went from a housewife to the financial provider of two small children in the blink of an eye. I am ashamed to say it, but I was very bitter and selfish during that time. I was angry at the world for the hardships I had to endure, and was completely oblivious to the fact that there were millions of people around the globe who had it ten times worse than myself . Fast forward to spring break of 2012, my parents and I had planned a trip to a relativeââ¬â¢s condominium in Florida to spend the vacation week (my brother had work). Unbeknownst to me at that time, we would never end up going to Florida on that trip. What happened still haunts my memories to this day. I was walking into my parentââ¬â¢s bedroom with my North Face backpack filled with my IPod, books, and other necessities for the trip ahead. I see my mother lying on the ground completely inconsolable, tears running down her cheek with her phone glued to her ear. I only hear snippets of the conversation before I was signaled by my father to leave the room. These fragments included ââ¬Å"Leeâ⬠¦.in hospitalâ⬠¦.brain cancerâ⬠¦.scared.â⬠It turned out that my motherââ¬â¢s brother, a man who was almost like a father to me, a man that I based my future ambitions off of, was in the hospital after a CAT scan revealed a large tumor on the right side of his brain. The voice of my grandmother on the phone crying and confused as my dad tried breaking the news to her would make anyone break down into tears. After a week in the hospital and an intensive brain operation, my uncle was let out of the hospital with news that the doctors had given him anywhere from twelve to eighteen months to live. Fast forward again to a leadership workshop camp sponsored by the Rotary Club in which I was sent to. There were people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and the stories they told were inspirational and saddening at the same time. There was a sixteen year-old girl with brain tumors that was not expected to live past eighteen. There was a boy born eight weeks premature who was not supposed to have lived. There were people who have lost relatives, parents, and siblings to sickness, violence, drugs, etc. After I was able to muster up the confidence to go up in front of the camp and tell my own story, the looks of understanding and sincerity on the faces of these kids the same age as myself reassured me that things get better, no matter how terrible a time is, it will always get better. Everyone has their own story, everyone has their own struggles in their personal walk of life. What defines them i s what they do after these times have passed. Do they wallow in self-pity until their time runs out, or do they pick themselves up and use those experiences as a source of strength and courage? I know that I will always pick myself up. I know that the tough times I have been through have done nothing more than shape me into the man I am today, and I would never change who I am. kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-56742595626035663232019-11-24T14:45:00.001-08:002019-11-24T14:45:03.167-08:00KRIK KRAK essaysKRIK KRAK essays For this assignment I decided that I would just write a brief overview of one of the stories in Edwidge Danticat s book Krik? Krak!. The story that I have chosen to talk about is Between the Pool and the Gardenias. I choose this one to discuss because I thought the circumstance between the lady and the child was very weird and intrigued me to look into it more in depth. So I am going to talk about the series of events in this story and my thoughts on the young women in the story. I am mainly going to focus on questions 2 and 3 in the study questions for Chapter 5 of Edwindge Danticats book, Krik? Krak!. In this story I believe that the main reason that she takes the child is because she is lonely and wants to become close to someone. She also has had a couple miscarriages before and this has affected her greatly and caused her much suffering and mourning over the years. When she took in the child this made her dream about all of the thoughts and emotions that would have taken place if she had been able to conceive her children. She had been missing out of all the parts of parenthood that came with having a child and this baby that she picks up makes her feel more whole inside. The baby makes her life on this planet feel like she has a purpose for a short while and that is why she takes the baby into her house as one of her own. Now maybe this wouldnt be considered crazy everywhere, but what if the baby was already dead and you tried to do this then you would probably get taken into an insane asylum. This is the main reason why I believe that she is crazy because you usually dont see women picking up dead babies off the road and taking them home to care for them. Sure she has had tough luck bearing a child, but when she pretended that the baby was alive and breathing when she knew what was really wrong with the child was just ridiculous. It got really bad when she took the baby to tow... kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-926404205532198740.post-89942483750268380572019-11-21T07:37:00.001-08:002019-11-21T07:37:15.819-08:00Negligent Security & Premises Liability Research PaperNegligent Security & Premises Liability - Research Paper Example The researcher states that unlike many laws that are enforced uniformly across the United States, premises liability law can differ from state to state. As an example, consider the scenario of an individual visiting an apartment and injuring themselves there. In some states, the owners of the apartment building would be liable for the injury; however, in other states, the tenant of the apartment where the injury occurred would be liable for the injury. Therefore, as described in the example, the law of premises liability can be enforced differently depending on the laws of the state involved. As indicated by the classic elements of premises liability, the plaintiff had to be an invitee or licensee in order to hold a landowner liable for a tort that occurs while the plaintiff is on the premises. A 1968 California Supreme Court decision, however, removed the legal distinction between an invitee, licensee, and trespasser when deciding if the possessor of the land could be held liable fo r harm that occurs on the premises and held that a landowner owed a reasonable duty of care to anyone on their premises. This decision held that a possessor of land could be held liable for harm that occurs on their property, even if the harm is to a trespasser or an individual that was not invited and should not be on the premises. Attractive Nuisance Doctrine The 1971 case Haddad v. First National Stores, Inc. established the standard for the duty of care owed to trespassing children. Previously the dutyà of a landowner owed to trespassers was not to harm them in a willful or wanton manner; however, the Haddad decision changed this standard and added a special duty of care with regard to children. The court adopted the attractive nuisance doctrine which makes a landowner liable if the plaintiff can prove: 1) the owner knows, or has reason to know, that children are likely to trespass where the condition exists; 2) the condition is one which the landowner knows and realizes, or h as reason to know and realize, involves an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death to such children; 3) the child does not realize the risk or danger involved; 4) the utility to the landowner of maintaining the condition is slight compared to the risk to children; and, 5) the landowner fails to exercise reasonable care to eliminate the danger or otherwise protect the children. Even though the case established the attractive nuisance doctrine, it is difficult for both a plaintiff and defendant to be involved in any case based on this doctrine. Another development in the premises liability law relates to the element of the law regarding the necessity of negligence or some other wrongful act. ââ¬Å"Third party premises liabilityâ⬠cases refer to cases where the possessor or owner of a property can be held liable for injury or harm that occurs on the premises but is the result of a wrongful act of a third person and not the possessor of the property. The issues of duty and ca usation are complex in these cases since the injury is not caused by the possessor of the premises directly, but still may be the liability of the owner or possessor of the premises. kristiemurr35http://www.blogger.com/profile/09472363465847381375noreply@blogger.com0
